Cosmo’s journey begins
Cosmo is a Saint Bernard who was surrendered by his breeder for reasons unknown. As far as we can gather, Cosmo had never lived in a home before. The simple things that most pets take for granted — like climbing stairs or receiving treats — were entirely foreign to him.
Despite his initial confusion and fear, Cosmo showed an irresistible desire to fit into spaces that were not quite designed for a dog of his size. This intriguing habit made him all the more endearing to those around him. And even though he had been with his rescuers for less than 24 hours, they were already smitten by his charm.
A leap of faith
The decision to adopt Cosmo was not an easy one. The adopter knew she would have to fly to Nebraska, rent a car, and drive home with a 130-pound dog. Most people would think this plan was madness, but she was determined to give Cosmo the loving home he deserved.
Her husband had come across Cosmo’s picture online. The raw need for love and acceptance reflected in Cosmo’s eyes was impossible to ignore. It felt like Cosmo was looking straight at them, pleading for a chance at happiness.
With time, patience and unyielding love, Cosmo slowly began adjusting to his new life. He learned about people food and discovered the joy of towel rubs after a refreshing bath. He even managed to get along well with his new siblings – the family’s two other dogs as well as their giant rabbits.
However, despite all these new experiences, stairs remained a mystery that Cosmo couldn’t quite unravel yet. Nevertheless, it’s clear that Cosmo has made impressive progress in just one week.

From being terrified of cars to enjoying family walks in the woods; from never having played in water before to swimming in lakes — every single day brought forth more firsts for Cosmo.
