A desperate situation
After a trip to a pet store, the soon-to-be rescuer couldn’t stop thinking about the poor fish. There he was, surrendered to a pet store, looking so sad.
Determined to bring him home, she set up a hospital tank with clean water and filtration.
The poor fish, lethargic and bearing lesions on his belly from prolonged contact with rocks, seemed unlikely to survive.
But then, something unexpected happened. Monstro, as she named him, began to eat. It was a tiny spark of hope amidst the darkness. Each day she would gently take his food and encourage him to move forward to retrieve it. Step by step, we progressed, until he could swim across the entire tub. It was truly inspiring to witness this little fish’s determination to live.
A journey of healing
Monstro reminded his hero of the majestic black whale from Pinocchio. As she carefully monitored his progress, his once-dull belly began to heal.
The scales on his bottom gleamed with a stunning beauty.
The time had come to give Monstro a new home—a pond where he could thrive. His rescuer designed an inverted fish tank, allowing her to observe him swimming above the water’s surface.
It was during this time that she truly noticed the golden brilliance emerging from his scales.
With each passing day, Monstro grew more active and content. He relished in the company of his fish friends and spent hours exploring his surroundings.
But there was one fish that captured his heart—Cleo, a nine-year-old goldfish, also rescued. Their bond was undeniable, and Monstro’s affection for her was evident.
Monstro’s transformation was awe-inspiring. His original coloring and personality paled in comparison to the vibrant fish he had become.
It was like witnessing a phoenix rising from the ashes. Monstro had blossomed into a stunning and joyful creature.
