Kikie’s rescue
For two days, the newborn kitten’s cries echoed through the air, catching the attention of a concerned passerby.
A kind-hearted individual followed the sound, eventually pinpointing a small hole beneath a balcony from which the plaintive cries emanated.
However, reaching Kikie seemed an insurmountable task, as the hole was small and inaccessible.
Kikie’s guardian angel understood that the baby was calling out for her mother. Hoping against hope, she waited, anticipating the return of Kikie’s mother.
But after 24 hours had passed and the cries continued, she knew she had to intervene. It took several painstaking hours to extract the helpless kitten from her confined hiding place.
Nurturing Kikie
Alone and barely two weeks old, Kikie had just begun to open her eyes.
Her rescuers fed her kitten milk through a syringe, tirelessly seeking assistance because, at such a tender age, the mortality rate without a mother’s care loomed large.
Finally, Kikie’s guardian angels contacted us and embarked on a journey to bring her to Montreal.
Kikie, affectionately named by her rescuers, weighed a meager 250g—a fragile bundle of hope. With a dedicated foster mother armed with a bottle, she began her journey to recovery.
Kikie responded well to the warmth and nourishment, quickly gaining 20g within the first day—a promising start. She eagerly suckled from the bottle, contentedly producing healthy stools.
Each passing day brought more weight gain, surpassing the 300g milestone. Snuggled up to her heating pad, Kikie reveled in the tender caresses of her foster mother, showing her gratitude through her unwavering trust.
One day at a time, Kikie continues to grow, albeit still small and delicate.
Kikie is a tiny fighter, eagerly drinking her bottles with the enthusiasm of someone taking shots. She developed a strong connection with her human caretaker, recognizing her scent and responding to her presence.
With each passing day, Kikie thrived, her belly round with nourishment. Her eyes opened, and she began to see the world, albeit in fuzzy shapes and forms.
She gets stronger every day and will soon be ready for adoption.
