“She just kind of came into the house,” Poppy explained. “We’re doing this. She’s really chill, and she’s not interested in doing anything crazy. She just likes to sleep.”
However, things soon took an unexpected turn when Poppy went into labor. With no previous experience delivering puppies, she found herself thrust into the role of midwife. To everyone’s surprise, the dog gave birth to nine puppies over several hours, and Poppy assisted with the delivery every step of the way.
“I had never delivered puppies before, and I didn’t know anything about it,” Poppy said. “But she did literally everything, and I really never considered that she’d have nine puppies. They just kept coming.”
The sight of the mother dog hugging and holding her newborn puppies was heartwarming, and everyone who witnessed the delivery was touched by the experience.
“She’s amazing,” Poppy said. “I love these puppies. They have made my face a lot happier.”
A New Chapter: Finding Poppy a Forever Home
As the weeks passed, the puppies grew stronger and more playful, bringing joy and happiness to everyone who met them. Eventually, it became clear that the mother dog had found her forever home.
“I’m a believer that you get the dog that you need when you need them,” Poppy said. “We figured that he probably legally established residency at this point, so we’re just gonna go ahead and adopt you, okay? Is that okay?”
The mother dog seemed thrilled with her new home and her new family, and everyone involved in her rescue was overjoyed to have been a part of her incredible journey.
“She’s the best dog ever,” Poppy said. “She really is.”
