About Finn to the rescue:
Once a month, Henry and his pup Finn embarked on a countrywide journey in their van, partnering with local rescue organizations dedicated to saving animals and serving their communities.
Their mission is simple: to learn about the incredible work these organizations did, showcase their adoptable dogs, and surprise them with a substantial community-funded donation.Â
The rescue mission:
For their final day in Mexico, Henry and Finn had joined Pris from @losadoptablesorg, ready to assist her in any dog rescue mission.
It didn’t take long for an opportunity to present itself. Pris had been tirelessly trying to help a young, malnourished, and mange-infested dog for a month. The coyote-like pup was alone and desperately in need of rescue.
With a camera in hand, Henry and Finn joined Pris in pursuit of the stray.
Though initially wary, the pup eventually wandered through a hole in a fence, igniting Pris’s joy. The fenced area left only one exit, and as the pup exited, Henry handed Pris his leash.
They swiftly secured the pup in the back of Pris’s car and set off to the shelter for evaluation, tests, and treatment.
Transformation and healing:
Despite his initial condition, the pup’s fate began to change. At Lowe’s Adoptables, he received the care and attention necessary for his recovery.
With Brevecto treatments and medicated baths, his fur was expected to grow back entirely, offering hope for a brighter future.
Simba’s journey:
Nicknamed Simba, the locals had previously referred to him as a “hyena.” After receiving vital care, Simba embarked on a journey to the United States.
At the Animal Pad, a rescue center in San Diego, he aimed to find his forever home. However, his journey was far from easy.
Upon arrival, Simba exhibited deep internal trauma. Fearful and defensive, he wouldn’t allow anyone to touch him at the kennels.
A special bond formed between Simba and Henry, as Henry dedicated himself to helping the pup overcome his struggles.
One step at a time, Simba slowly adapted to living in a home. From being uncomfortable on the couch to cautiously venturing onto it, Simba began to discover his newfound confidence.
Each small victory, like offering awkward hugs and venturing into laps, marked a turning point in his emotional healing.
A new beginning:
Finally, the day arrived when Simba found his forever family. Handing Simba off to his hopeful new owners filled Henry with immense joy.
The adopters, dedicated and loving, had put in countless hours meeting and connecting with Simba. It was clear that they were ready to cherish him as Henry had.
The following year, Henry decided to pay Simba a visit. The reunion with Simba and his new mom brought tears to Henry’s eyes, witnessing the happiness and love that enveloped them.
Simba’s journey from a desperate stray to a beloved companion filled Henry’s heart with gratitude.
